The Aerohead MIPS GIRO helmet is designed to deliver maximum performance in anti-clock competitions. It is made of polycarbonate housing, features a Zeiss Optics peripheral visor that covers the front from ear to ear and increases airflow in this area, magnetically adjusts and can be stored on the front top of the helmet giving La Vuelta to the lens.
MiPS is a leading flat-moving technology within the helmet, designed to reduce rotational forces that can result from certain impacts. When a head rotates quickly and a sudden stop arrives, rotational acceleration can cause high levels of tension in brain tissue. Stretching tissue caused by these movements can lead to various types of brain injuries. We believe that helmets equipped with MIPS technology can add a higher level of protection against certain types of impacts. MIPS uses a flat displacement system that moves inside the helmet, mimicking the brain's own protection system. This layer is designed to rotate inside the helmet with the attempt to potentially slow down or reduce the amount of energy transferred to or from the head. Science tells us that if we can reduce the stress associated with rotational acceleration, we could reduce the risk and severity of brain damage.
